Homes Study Services
Family to Family is a child placing agency licensed by the State of Texas to place children for adoption and to perform Home Study interviews and evaluations as per the Texas Minimum Adoption Standards. There are several types of adoptions that require specific types of home study and post placement. The following is a general list of those:
-
Domestic Adoption: requires the adoptive parent to have home study evaluation and report prior to placement with a child age 0 to 16. Two post placement supervision visits must be completed prior to finalization of the adoption.
-
Step Parent Adoption: Required when the biological parent of a child wishes to extend parental rights to a step father or step mother. Generally there are no post placement supervision visits required, this home study is completed because of a pending adoption decree usually.
-
International Adoption: Most children adopted internationally are residents of countries that have ratified the Hague Convention. This requires the placing agency to be accredited by the Hague Convention. At this time, the expected date of accreditation and ratification of the Hague Convention by the United States is late 2007. Family to Family has applied for Hague Accreditation so that we may continue to place newborn infants in Western Europe. This accreditation will also enable us to complete your home study for the international agency in which you are adopting your child from Russia, China, Taiwan, Bulgaria, Guatemala and other countries. We are also a designated supervising provider for several large international agencies so that we may accommodate their clients with home studies.
