Fam2Fam is a 501C 3 non-profit licensed agency and was founded by experienced professionals in the child advocacy field. We were licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services as a child-placing agency on February 14, 2001.
We were founded on February 14, 2001 as an international agency and began our domestic programs on August 2, 2001. Our first placement of a domestic infant was January 2002. That year we placed 33 children, 20 of whom were domestic. In 2003, our second full year of our domestic program, we placed 63 children, 57 of whom were domestic. We discontinued our international programs in August 2003 and now we work only with domestic adoption. In 2005 we placed 39 children and in 2006 we also placed 39 children.

'The Wait' is the hardest part of the adoption process for most people. After waiting so long for other processes to be complete like infertility treatment, the home study process, choosing an adoption agency or preparing your advertising campaign, the wait for match after the contract date is almost more than the average person can handle. According to a poll done by Adoptive Families Magazine, in 2006 and 2007, 56% of couples were matched within 6 months of signing on with an agency and 78% were matched within 1 year. Also, 74% of people had only 3 months or less to wait for the birth of their baby and 15% were matched after the baby was born. The ethnicity of the children placed in this poll indicated that 48% were full Caucasian, 16% were African American, 28% were multi or biracial and 8% were Hispanic.
These statistics include people who have adopted privately through their own advertising, people who chose an agency to help them adopt and those lucky people whose birth mother found them through family members.
At Family to Family, we feel that our statistics hold up well against the national average and exceed the average in most cases. From the inception of our domestic program in January 2002 through December 2007, Family to Family placed 210 newborns or toddlers.
Our mean average from contract date to match was 142 days or 4.7 months and from contract date to placement was 183 days or 6.1 month. Fifty percent of these singles and couples were matched with a birth mother in 75 days or 2.5 months and home with a baby within 129 days or 4.3 months from contract date.
Of the placements from 2002 through 2006, 44% were full Caucasian, 17% were Caucasian/Hispanic, 16% were full Hispanic and 7% were full African American children. In 2007, the breakdown was 47% full Caucasian, 27% Caucasian/Hispanic, 10% full Hispanic and 13% African American.
We are very proud of our work for the past six (6) years in placing 88% of our clients with the baby of their choice within one (1) year of contract date.
